Sweet Cinnamon Biscuits
There’s nothing like a snow day for a little baking!
Bekah got up this morning and yelled, “No (snow), Mommy! ‘No!” We quickly agreed that today we should make cinnamon rolls :)
I love this no rise recipe! So much easier to mix up the dough, roll it out, and pop it into the oven.
Cinnamon Biscuit Ingredients:
Flour
Baking powder
Salt
Soda
Butter
Raw milk
Brown sugar
Cinnamon
Icing Ingredients:
Powdered Sugar
Raw Milk
Vanilla
Dough Recipe:
4 cups all purpose flour
2 TBS baking powder
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
Combine in a medium bowl and mix well
1/2 cup melted butter
Stir into flour mixture
1 1/2 cups raw milk
Add milk and stir until just blended.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Roll dough into a rectangle that is about 1/4 inch thick
Filling Recipe:
1/2 cup butter softened
1 cup brown sugar
2 TBS cinnamon
Combine in bowl. Spread evenly over rolled out dough. (You can also layer these separately over the dough as well.)
Roll up the rectangle starting on one long side and going to the other. Pinch the seam to seal. Cut the roll into 1 to 1 1/2 inch slices. Arrange evenly in a greased baking pan (make sure it has sides!).
Bake at 400 degrees for 15 - 20 minutes until lightly browned.
Icing Recipe:
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1-4 TBS milk*
Whisk together until combined. Spread (or pour) immediately over the baked biscuits.
*For icing — use less milk. For glaze — use more milk.
I hope you enjoy these as much as we do here :)
